Genikhovich group collaborated with the Modepalli group at the University of Plymouth to dissect the molecular anatomy of the larval apical organ in Nematostella. Tatiana Lebedeva, a PhD student from the Genikhovich group, identified a paired class transcription factor responsible for the suppression of the neural fate and the formation of the apical tuft cells at the centre of the apical organ.
