We show that Wnt/Frizzled /LRP5/6-mediated signalling is crucial for patterning the oral aboral axis in Nematostella and that different Fz receptors play partially redundant functions in it. At the same time, surprisingly, LRP5/6 knockdown or combined knockdown of all Frizzled receptors does not affect endoderm specification. Finally, we find which Wnt genes are particularly important for the ectoderm patterning in our Nematostella .
